Sprout Widget and Ben Harper

Waiting for an invite

I’m eagerly awaiting an invite to use the Sprout widget building service. It’s in a closed beta right now. I can say as a musician the tremendous application and use of this service is energizing.

If you have an open invite, please send one on over? I prefer to use the email address safesongs /[at]/ gmail [/dot/] com.

Cool Ben Harper widget

In the meantime, I’m enjoying some time exploring some of the widgets that they are sharing at their gallery page. Here’s one for Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. I really dig the music player (and quite enjoy these new tracks by Ben, as well)!

My ooVoo Day with Mitch Joel

Connecting with Video

I have had the opportunity twice this week to talk with some very talented and very friendly connections in the social media environment. We were participating in a project called My ooVoo Day.

Week Long Experiment

According to their site My ooVoo Day is a “week-long experiment in blogger to fan interaction. Notable bloggers from across the ‘sphere will host interactive conversations on hot topics, facilitated by the multi-person video chat technology from our friends at ooVoo.”

It is my understanding that each session host was provided with funds to donate to charities of their choice.

Today’s Conversation

The conversation I participated in today included Mitch Joel, John Wall, Sherman Hu, Tim Elliott, Mike Kujawski, and Andrea Vascellari. Lee Hopkins had hopped on the chat about the time that I took this snapshot, but due to some audio problems was unable to stay connected.
Six people on OoVoo video chat

Social Media, Web 2.0, Digital Marketing

Our conversation was to focus on various aspects of Social Media, Web 2.0, and Marketing and Communications. We did get the opportunity to discuss a bit about Twitter, Jaiku, Utterz and some of the other well-known micro-blogging environments. There were some great introductions and each person was able to share a bit about their current experiences and professional engagements.

Our Gracious Host

This session was hosted by Mitch Joel. Mitch is President of Twist Image, a digital marketing agency. He maintains his blog at twistimage.com/blog. He is also well-known for his podcast “Six Pixels of Separation.” Look to him for marketing insights on digital marketing and personal branding.
