This is a video of my son testing for his black belt in Kuk Sul Do. This was the first of several test sessions that he will need to complete before being accepted for promotion. I’m obviously very proud of his diligence and effort. Grandmaster Choon Suk Yung can be seen in this video helping my son with some of his efforts to break boards.
Kuk Sul Do is a Korean martial arts style that was brought to the United States by Grandmaster Choon Suk Yang. The name “Kuk Sul Do” translates to “National Korean Martial Art”, and was put together from a number of different Korean martial art styles in order to preserve traditions and movements that are hundreds of years old. Philosophically, Kuk Sul stresses humility, courtesy, discipline, honor, positive thinking, and healthy living. We believe good character is as important as good techniques!
