We’ll Miss You, Jamie

Good friend and former band-mate, Jamie Faulkner passed away early this morning. He was a fantastic man; a man of faith; a man of ethics and conviction. I know that he touched many lives and that he will be missed by so many.

Gerry Gustin commented about Jamie on his Facebook account this morning:

at 222 am, Trotwood Police Detective Jamie Faulkner passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. The world has lost another good one! He was a close friend, a band-mate in Knight Blaze, and one of the most kind and gentle men I ever met! He is at peace finally and has earned his great reward!

Behind the Scenes with Knight Blaze

This is the police/firefighter band that I’ve been in since 1994:

Knight Blaze Found on YouTube

I had a Google alert come through my email this weekend while I was gone. It pointed me to a video that had been posted from someone at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Springfield, Ohio. This was a performance that we had done for the area fifth grade students that had recently completed the DARE program.

One of my opportunities to rock it as a guitarist (and not acoustic) instead of as a bassist. Funny that the person submitting the video misspelled the word “wanna.”

The band is Knight Blaze. The group has been performing for area children and community events since 1993.

Here’s a short snippet of our cover of “I Wanna Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz. I only wish that the video captured the dueling lead parts that Mike and I add to the middle of the song. We go long enough sometimes that Kendra is about to kick us off the stage.
