Amazon Widget is Cool for My Kid CD

Cool Widget

Amazon has given me a new option for sharing my kid songs CD. Yay! You can share it, too!

Fun Kid Song

Kids songs are cool

I’m a sucker for a good kids song. Of course, I’ve written and produced my own album for kids (did you see the link called “Children’s CD” at the top of this blog?). I’m always encouraged and pleased to see songs that are obviously fun for kids. I appreciate when the artist knows how to connect with the little ones’ abilities to learn while having fun.

Eric Herman gets it

One such song that I recently discovered is by Eric Herman. It is called “The Elephant Song.” Here’s the video:

A lot of videos

I found this at mDIALOG.com. mDIALOG is a social video site that I recently joined. Look for me there as “richpalmer.” I’m still working out the kinks for using the service. Their uploader tool doesn’t like to talk to my web-cam or audio device right now. Other services connect fine, but this one doesn’t seem to like me. I like the site, though. And if I were to critique their video clarity, I would say it is one of the best social video sites in that aspect.

I’ll likely share more about mDialog here or on my show Blogs, Views and Blues in the near future.

My Wife Wants a Noneday

Noneday Sounds Cool

As we were waking this morning, my wife proclaimed “I need a Noneday.” She stated that there needs to be a day where she doesn’t have to set her alarm. No getting up for work, no getting up for church, no waking to shuttle one of the kids to this activity or another. Simply… a Noneday. She said that on this day no alarm clock should be allowed to work.

As busy as we’ve been lately, that certainly sounded attractive to me.

Visiting a Different Church

Today we’re going to visit a church we’ve thought of visiting for some time. We have some friends that attend there and they have a very cool youth program. Should be a nice experience.

Podcast and Music Production Planned

Later, I am going to be producing episodes of Blogs, Views and Blues and Audio Gumshoe. Perhaps I’ll be able to get some more tracking done on my CD project, as well. People are wondering if this mythical CD will ever become reality.

Revising the blog, working on the album

Excuse the construction mess

I’m reworking my blog style and themes. For now I’ve not landed on a firm design, so please excuse the mess. I know that first impressions mean a lot, so I appreciate the fact that many of you that are visiting for the first time are only looking for content and not “atmosphere.”

Simplicity and ease of use is the goal

One of the complaints that I’ve received from my recent design is that it sometimes takes too long to load — or that some elements simply are loading sluggishly. I did like the overall appearance of the blog, but didn’t like the fact that the background loaded over the text fields in the initial page refresh. I hope to come up with a design that is pleasant to see, but also quick to appear.

Changes coming to RichPalmer.com

In anticipation of the upcoming CD/album project release I realize that there will be a major revision to the entire structure and appearance at RichPalmer.com. This will likely result in a change to this blog once again — very likely seeing it become better integrated into the overall site.

The current music project is moving forward

I am working on the songs now and hope to have them ready for master very soon. I wish I could give a target date, but the reality of a full-time career and “demands of real life” are ever-present. I work on this project as often as opportunity arises. Thanks for checking in and being interested in the progress!

I can earnestly say that most (if not all) of the songs to be included have been written. Some are already recorded and waiting for the final master process. Others are in production or are in need of some revision. I want the project to seem “cohesive” so there are some changes that need to be made to a few tunes. I think, however, that this project will show some diversity in my style.

Research for New Album

As part of my efforts to determine demand and budget issues for my new album, I’m asking people how they prefer to buy their music. I’ve been doing this in an informal and conversational way to date. Now I would like to formalize the process a bit more.

If you have a few moments, would you please take the “music buying habits” survey that I’ve compiled? It would sure help me as I determine the next step for this next album.

Recording continues and I look forward to announcing pre-orders of the album “Future Retrospect” very soon!
