Facebook Wants to Replace My Email?

Facebook continues to become more and more cluttered with all of the external apps that are being added (apparently by the minute). And they think they are going to replace my email. Ha.

It’s a move to supplant your webmail account, too. Facebook writes: As we continue to make Facebook more useful for everyone, these changes mean that there’s no need to switch between Facebook and email for your daily communication needs. In plain english: we want to own the webmail space (they even add that one of their engineers will never use regular email again, thanks to the feature).

That’s a shame for users like me, who find it infuriating to get a mail in my regular inbox saying something akin to “you have a mail at Facebook, but you’ll need to log in to Facebook to see it” (all social networks do this, as you know – I suspect even MyMash probably does). If Facebook did want to supplant webmail, it would need to substantially upgrade its offering to match Gmail or better.
