I had the very humbling experience of participating in the recent Podsafe for Peace recording project. The song “If Every Day Were Christmas” (O. Pagan/Slau) was recorded by singers/musicians from all around the world in order to:
1) Raise awareness about independent music
2) Create new Christmas music not held down by the restrictive chains of the RIAA
3) Raise money for UNICEF
The original demo by Slau (PMN) was played by Adam Curry on his Daily Source Code #270 on October 31, 2005. He stated that it should be done in a “We Are the World”/”Band-Aid” fashion with musicians from the Podsafe Music Network singing the different parts. Slau heeded the call and coordinated a mass long-distance recording project. Each participant recorded the tracks in their own or local studios and sent them to him. With C.C. Chapman and a host of others, they produced the final product.
